Parkinson's Disease Organizations

There are many organizations focused on
research, advocacy, care and support for the Parkinson's community.

These include
national non-profits, medical and research centers, government agencies, regional support groups, and advocacy groups.

Each has its own special focus, but all share the common goals of improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson's disease and someday finding a cure.

American Parkinson Disease Association

The American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc. was founded in 1961 to "ease the burden and find a cure" for Parkinson's disease. Headquartered in New York, the organization focuses its energies on research, patient services, education and raising public awareness about the disease. APDA supports nine Centers for Advanced Research, 52 regional Information and Referral (I&R) Centers, 45 chapters, and 250 affiliated support groups nationwide.

The Parkinson Alliance is a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to help finance the most promising research to find the cause and cure for Parkinson's disease.
